The
Brief
Having successfully collaborated with Total Fitness on previous training initiatives, Kidztivity were approached once again to enhance their team’s expertise in delivering children’s fitness programmes. Total Fitness needed comprehensive training for their staff working with children and young people, particularly focusing on the integration of specialised equipment packages designed to maximise fun while delivering optimal fitness benefits for children.
The
Challenge
The primary challenge was seamlessly integrating new equipment packages into Total Fitness’s existing children’s programmes while ensuring staff could confidently deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities. The team needed to understand not just how to use the equipment, but how to adapt activities for different age groups and abilities.
The
Approach
Kidztivity delivered two comprehensive 6-hour bespoke workshops across Total Fitness’s network, targeting their key training locations in Wakefield and Wilmslow. The training was strategically structured to accommodate different learning styles and maximise practical application:
Workshop Structure:
-
Theory Sessions: Interactive group discussions and knowledge-sharing exercises
-
Practical Elements: Hands-on equipment training and activity demonstrations
-
Collaborative Learning: Team members worked together to share experiences and generate new ideas
The training covered equipment versatility, age-appropriate progressions, safety protocols, and creative adaptation techniques to ensure every child could participate regardless of their fitness level or ability. Team members were also called upon to plan a session and deliver an activity to their peers with the equipment available to build their confidence.
The
result
The training resulted in significantly enhanced staff confidence and competency in children’s fitness delivery. Total Fitness team members gained practical skills in equipment integration, developed a deeper understanding of age-appropriate progressions and adaptations, and expanded their toolkit for inclusive programming. The collaborative approach fostered knowledge-sharing between experienced and newer team members, creating a stronger, more unified approach to children’s fitness across their facilities.
The success of this partnership reinforces Total Fitness’s position as a family-friendly fitness destination while supporting their continued growth in the children’s activity sector.
