  2. Paint child’s palm and fingers with chosen flower colour

Memory Jar

Materials:

  • Clean mason jar

Instructions:

  1. Cut small paper strips (enough for 20-30 memories)
  2. Have children write/draw memories about Mum on strips

Instructions:

  6. Thread pipe cleaner through hole
  7. Glue button/bead in centre

Salt Dough Ornaments

Materials:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Paint
  • Ribbon
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters
  • Straw for hanging hole

Recipe:

  1. Mix flour and salt
  2. Gradually add water, knead until smooth
  3. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness
  4. Cut shapes with cookie cutters
  5. Make a hole with a straw
  6. Bake at 120°C for 2 hours
  7. Once cool, paint and decorate
  8. Thread ribbon through hole

Fingerprint Hearts

Materials:

  • White card stock
  • Pink/red washable paint
  • Black fine-liner pen

  • Paper plates for paint

Instructions:

  1. Pour paint onto a paper plate
  2. Press thumb into the paint
  3. Make two thumb prints forming a heart shape
  • Press at an angle
  • Prints should meet at bottom
  1. Repeat to create multiple hearts
  2. Once dry, add details with pen:
  • Draw faces
  • Add arms/legs
  • Write messages
